Dill the Noise is like Brangelina or Kimye, but better. These are celebrities of a different kind, whose pairing produces an outcome measurable in peculiarity and animal noises. This collaborative music project from Kill the Noise and Dillon Francis makes so much and very little sense at the same time, and I have a feeling that is the vibe these two weirdos intended. “Dill the Noise,” is actually the title of a track from Dillon Francis’s 2012 EP entitled Something, Something Awesome. Francis also release a remix of KTN’s self-titled track, “Kill the Noise.” Thus far, their combined sound is something of filth and whirls, dark moombahton feels fitting sounds for the marriage of these two oddball personas.
Somewhere in the middle of profound late night tweets from KTN and Dilly’s hilarious antics and alter-egos lies immeasurable depth and insurmountable musical talent. Try not to forget that when listening to the ridiculous silliness that is their latest collaboration, “Dolphin On Wheels.” We caught a preview of this preposterousness at Chicago’s North Coast Festival a few weeks ago, but now we can experience the entire school of dolphins swimming through your seas. The track dropped this morning on Kill the Noise’s soundcloud, and it is nautical AF.
Dads and cats and dolphins, oh my. It is hard to tell on this track where Dillon ends and Kill the Noise begins, because both are so absurd in their own ways, and both have zero f*cks to give. This is what we love most about them. So don’t read too much into this one, or write it off thinking it sounds like something you have already heard. Everything about this track is intentional, and revealing of the character of two of dance music’s finest. “Dolphin On Wheels,” will show up on Occult Classic, Kill the Noise’s forthcoming album to be released on OWSLA. And while it probably reveals very little about what the rest of this album will look like, expecting the unexpected is par for the course when it comes to the brilliance of a veteran such as Kill the Noise.
Unexpected fun is what he brings to the table on this one, with the help of dance music’s most fun, Dillon Francis. So don’t take this one too seriously. Embrace the gross madness that is Dill the Noise, in all of its wacky, animalistic glory.
