After premiering at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, fan-shot bootleg videos of Kanye West’s music video for “All Day” and “I Feel That” have begun to surface on the internet. The video spans 9-minutes and features countless shots of an emotional Kanye avoiding the camera while remaining in it’s periphery, simultaneously demanding attention.
According to the Los Angeles Times, McQueen said the video is about “the gaze and the gaze following you.” McQueen reportedly told West to “beat himself up” prior to filming, and it was shot in three takes.
The song “I Feel that” debuted in Paris before making it’s premiere stateside in LA. Here’s what Kanye had to say on where the ‘I Feel That’ lyrics came from:
“It comes from anger management” says West. “When you go to anger management, they give you this list, and they ask you a series of questions to see if you’re truly angry. And I am.”
