The other day we heard about a proposed contract between SoundCloud and the Merlin Network who handles the digital distribution for basically every indie record label not under the umbrella of one of the three majors (including labels like ” Beggars Group, Domino, Secretly Group, Epitaph, Ninja Tune, PIAS, Warp Records, Armada Music, Kontor Records and many more.”) but today it’s being reported that the two parties have reached a deal.
This is a huge move for SoundCloud who needed the support to put pressure on the remaining two major labels who have been holding out from signing deals, likely because they are already so heavily invested in companies like Spotify.
