Fresh off their debut performance at Electric Forest, Shae District is back with “Devotion,” the first single to be released since their self-titled, debut EP last year. Inspired by electronic tracks of the early 2000’s, “Devotion” is an uplifting anthem created with the intent of broadening the duo’s repertoire.
Simultaneously bold and powerful while also being tasteful and gentle, the Denver-based pairing’s newest work is very much more of a song than a track, pairing wistful, soaring vocals with rich, pulsating percussion, immersive synths and a euphoric melody. Despite their strong dance roots, Shae District’s newest songs hint at a vulnerability not seen in their previous work. This is track tailor-made for a huge, outdoor stage under the fireworks, lasers and miles of starry sky in every direction, while also perfect for a lowkey, relaxing drive with the windows down.
“Our recent music releases came from a darker environment and were written in the years following the pandemic. During this time, music was predominantly listened to at home and in the car – not in live settings. We created pieces and music videos for a more cinematic experience that reflected these times. However, as the world has opened up once again we’ve had the opportunity to perform in some amazing venues, festivals, and with other amazing artists. We wanted to write music that reflected this new era and would translate well live. Something uplifting, powerful and energizing while still holding to the core who we are. So, ‘Devotion’ was born.”
