Dutch-New Zealand producer Malvae, known for his avant-garde electronic music, has just released his latest masterpiece, the Chrysalis EP. This eclectic collection showcases the producer’s innovative fusion of organic samples, analogue synthesizers, and haunting melodies, solidifying his reputation as a pioneer in the electronic music scene. The EP opens with the evocative track “0,” a haunting prelude to the extraordinary sounds that follow. It transitions into “Tell Me,” featuring the ethereal vocals of MAY BBY, reminiscent of Malvae’s global hit “Tuyuka” from his 2020 album Amazonas. “Chrysalis features tracks that were crafted over various periods, with some spanning over
two years. This EP marks a transition in my sound, largely influenced by my increased use
of analogue synthesizers while still combining them with field recordings. I aimed to
enhance my live performances, and integrating different instruments has allowed me to
bring my craft to the stage in a more holistic and intuitive manner, without sacrificing my
