Trumpeter/producer/ethnomusicologist Balkan Bump has quickly proven himself a force to be reckoned with. After just launching in 2017, he’s now gearing up for a stacked fall tour alongside Beats Antique, Clozee, Russ Liquid and Gramatik, including 2 separate shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. “Give Me Something To Funk” is being released in celebration of this tour, having been inspired on the road this spring while traveling alongside Gramatik and Haywyre. Filled with Balkan Bump’s recognizable trumpet, the tune departs from his debut EP’s Balkan influence, providing a full-on glimpse into pure electronic funk. Added to the mix is vocalist Kelly Finnigan of Monophonics, whose croon emphasizes the already soulful production.
Balkan Bump first appeared with his debut 2017 single “Aymo”, alongside superstar collaborators Gramatik and Talib Kweli. Since then he has been taken under Gramatik’s wing, embarking on a spring US tour with Gramatik, and releasing his debut eponymous EP on Gramatik’s Lowtemp label.
