“You know that euphoric-but-anxious feeling of hooking up with someone you really like for the first time? That is how this song feels. At surface level, this is a straight-up summer lust song, but beneath it are some real ‘pop bars.’ I knew if I was going to produce a pseudo-pop song, I had to give it some substance and depth in the writing.”
“I grew up listening to the rap where I didn’t catch some of the bars and double entendres until months later, and although I’m not rapping, I wanted to bring that same style to my writing. Plus the instrumental is the punchline for the hook? Crazy.
