Diplo is a force to be reckoned with. The king of dance music has been top priority this year as he’s shown us a new side of his creativity with his latest project. Finally here, Diplo’s highly anticipated new California EP has pushed the boundaries and rumbled the future of hip hop music. The 6-track EP features his previously released singles “Get It Right [Remix]” featuring MØ and GoldLink, “Worry No More” featuring Santigold and Lil Yachty, and “Look Back” featuring DRAM, along with three new tracks featuring Desiigner, Trippie Redd, and Lil Xan. Diplo has often collaborated with the industry’s top vocalists like Ellie Goulding, Justin Bieber, and Camila Cabello, but usually under his Major Lazer moniker. With his California project, however, Diplo himself has revolutionized dance music, enlisting a variety of rappers to bring a new feel to hip hop music. If that wasn’t enough, California has been perfectly timed to coincide with the announcement and first episode of Diplo’s new Sirius XM channel Diplo’s Revolution, hinting that this is just the beginning of Diplo’s 2018 domination.
“When I made the Florida album over ten years ago, it was me dwelling in my own mind and creating something crazy that was about where I’m from and what I imagined. Nnce I got to California, I had been working for years in all kinds of music but this last year I was inspired by all the young sounds and rappers that have moved to LA. I felt like this album was the soundtrack to the last year of working here.” – Diplo (via Instagram)
In addition to making the album’s track art, Diplo enlisted painter February James to create a variety of prints to be sold as merch at his EP release party and gallery show. The LA release party, held earlier this week, featured exclusive clothing, prints and even cocktails inspired by California.
