Josh Young Talks Leaving Flosstradamus, YehMe2, Steal This Tour and more.

Since announcing his departure from Flosstradamus back in December 2016, YehMe2 (Josh Young) has been busy making some insane trap music.  Creating a wide range of edits, originals and remixes, Young has moved beyond the stigma of being a hype-man and pushed to create art without any limitations.

Concentrating on his solo project YehMe2, Young has released over 60 tracks, two mix-tapes within the past year and shows no signs of stopping as he prepares to begin his debut US/Canada tour “Steal This Tour.”  We had the chance to catch up with Young to discuss his departure from Flosstradamus, his solo project YehMe2, future collabs and more.

As part of Flosstradamus, you and Curt Cameruci established HDYNATION, amassed a legion of die hard fans and played a critical role in defining and shaping today’s trap scene.   How hard was it for you to walk away from a brand you worked on for over a decade?  

What factors played a role in your decision to leave and explore your options as an independent artist? 

As an independent artist, your new project YehMe2 seems to be all about your self expression.  Do you find it freeing to be able to make your own decisions from start to finish?  What are some of the challenges that you’ve faced so far?  

What does your production process as a solo artist look like in comparison to your previous process with Curt as Flosstradmus?  Do you miss sharing the creative responsibility? 

Last year you gave yourself a challenge to create a beat a day for a month and shared your results on Instagram.  When it comes to focusing on your YehMe2 project and developing your sound as a solo artist, what has inspired your musical direction?   

You also brought the challenge back this year leading up your second mixtape “Steal This Mixtape 2,” a 29 track bootleg project.   What were some of your favorite tracks to flip and which tracks presented the most challenge? 

In the future what can we expect from YehMe2, are there any potential collabs or upcoming releases that you can discuss? 

What can new fans and die hard HDYNATION fans expect from your new tour?  What genres and tracks will you be incorporating into your sets? 

Looking to the future, what do you want to be known for and where do you see yourself in the next few years?
