In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, rock group Spoon detailed their interesting experience working with Skrillex and Diplo. The band met up with Jack U at a Malibu mansion that was owned by a producer with the hopes of Diplo being able to ‘punch up’ their single “Can I Sit Next To You.” But during the session the group ended up jamming with Skrillex for over 20 minutes.
“He worked so fast,” Fischel says, seated at a diner table with Daniel and Eno. “There was one point where the computer glitched out and he just yanked out the audio interface and just kept going on another machine. And all of a sudden, he just goes, ‘Bah! Bah!’ just sampling his voice into the laptop microphone and he made a melody with that. It was like he had Tourette’s or something.”
“I didn’t know what the fuck he was doing with that, ‘Bah!'” Daniel says, as they both laugh. “Then shortly after you’d hear it in the song.”
The track has yet to see the light of day yet, but Spoon are eager to see what Skrillex and Diplo do with it. Unfortunately with Jack U taking a break and Skrillex diving into his own musical adventures like reuniting with his band From First to Last and producing Incubus’ album, it might be a long time before it gets a release.
