It’s been nothing short of a meteoric ride for Jack Ü since they premiered the project at Ultra Music Festival in 2013 but it would seem that the ride has come to and end as more and more public clues point towards a private falling out between Diplo and Skrillex. As EDMChicago has pointed out, Skrillex tweeted and then deleted that Jack Ü festival shows would be done “for a long time” which was then replaced with this tweet:
Tour is over ???????? pic.twitter.com/e2wR1AjL8T
— SKRILLEX (@Skrillex) August 28, 2016
However this was only the first sign of trouble; in November, Skrillex publicly tweeted a happy birthday to Diplo:
@Diplo Happy birthday Wes ????✨ pic.twitter.com/mmDNHAe4C4
— SKRILLEX (@Skrillex) November 7, 2016
It seemed that perhaps all was fine and good with the two superstar DJs until this week– and put your elementary school drama hats on here– when it was noticed that Diplo did not wish Skrillex a happy birthday and that Diplo no longer follows Skrillex on instagram or twitter.
Oh. Em. Gee. (Nuclear explosion)
As usual, the great detective agency Reddit got right on the case and it was soon confirmed in /r/Skrillex by none other than Slushii that indeed there is “a whole thing” going on (though he was unwilling to delve further into the issue on Discord).
Also Skrillex has released a new song with his old emo band, From First to Last… what could this mean? Will we see Diplo try and get back with MIA or will he find yet another collaborator to team up with . Is it possible that we’re reading into this too much and that we attach too much significance to spontaneous digital gestures that speak nothing to reality?
Bruh, do you even follow @realDonaldTrump?
Let us know what you think is going on via Twitter or Facebook and stay tuned for more realness– in the meantime you can hear Sonny Moore’s From First To Last Release.
