Earlier today Bassnectar told Billboard’s James Chang about his journey to his first warehouse party.
“I had no idea where it was or what it was going to be like. A kid from school found the directions last minute… it was like a treasure hunt. I drove there in a car packed with friends, and we parked on the street outside. When we got out of the car, you could hear the bass booming in the distance. We just followed the bass until we found ourselves at the doorway to a building.
Everyone was lost in the music, and lost in the experience of a creative, social free-for-all. Instead of staring at a DJ up on a stage, or spending the entire night with their phones out trying to ‘capture the moment,’ they were in the moment, and this is what I want to recreate in Atlanta.”
The Haven will be a special space reminiscent of old school chill-out rooms that are commonly seen in warehouse culture. Equipped with pillows, ambient music, and friendly people passing out fruit and tea.
The Main Arena will be a step above some CDJs placed on a collapsable table; there will be Bassnectar quality sound, lasers, and lights. Instead of placing all LED screens, lasers, etc. on the main stage, they will be spread throughout the venue, so audio/visual stimulation can be found wherever you may wander.
“I never just posted up and stared at the DJs,” says Bassnectar, “nobody did. The DJ was just some friendly person who got to create the soundtrack for the experience, and the experience went a lot deeper than just the music.”
It is truly a blessing to have such an amazing gathering take place in the Southeast. Artists joining Bassnectar on rare, underground, and sold-out Atlanta performance:
Hudson Mohawke | Lunice | Truth | Big Wild | ATLiens | Hustle Up
Join 10,000 bassheads at 279 Andrew Young International Blvd. on Sept. 9th and 10th for an unbelievable, rare Bassnectar gathering like you may never be able to experience again.
