My favorite part of seeing a DJ live is getting the chance to see unreleased songs, remixes, bootlegs and mashups. Well that’s exactly what Skrillex did during his headlining slot at Summer Set Music Festival last weekend.
His closing main stage set at the popular midwestern camping music festival seems to have filled the stage in nicely and he even came with a few surprises. Youtube user Ben Barrette uploaded a video of Skrillex playing out a brand new remix of Galantis‘ “No Money.” Skrillex announced to the crowd that he, ‘Just finished this remix on the airplane” and that he “wants to test it out.” I didn’t see many people arguing the idea.
The remix keeps the catchy vocal that Galantis is known for before speeding it up for a ‘switch’ and giving the song a much more bouncey feel to it. It definitely isn’t one of Skrillex’s bass-filled songs but it sounds like something that could be a lot of fun on the dance floor. Let’s see if it actually gets released or sits in that rather big pile of ‘unreleased Skrillex stuff we all want.’
