UpNorth is a brand new festival taking place in Northern Michigan this August, bringing some of the best up-and-coming artists from just about every corner of the electronic spectrum. With a unique vision and a beautiful location, UpNorth is setting itself up to be a can’t-miss festival. If you like frolicking in the trees while listening to incredible music, this festival is probably for you. As with any stacked lineup, sometimes you need a little help choosing what to see, so check out our top picks below, and get ready to dance away the weekend in the forest.
Exmag
Exmag is no stranger to the festival circuit, boasting an impressive resume that includes Electric Forest, North Coast, and Summer Camp. Their live sets are incredibly fun, and with artists like Muzzy Bearr and Sunsquabi sharing the schedule with them, don’t be surprised to see a few special guests join in on the funk. It’s going to be a perfect way to ring in the weekend.
Manila Killa
Moving Castle is curating the North Stage on Saturday night, and bring some serious talent. Manila Killa is unstoppable lately, with songs like “All That’s Left” and “Youth” taking over Soundcloud and inspiring a slew of impressive remixes. Be sure to catch the vibes with Manila Killa on Saturday, even if it means bouncing around between stages.
Mija
Normally I wouldn’t recommend two conflicting artists, but there’s no way I can exclude Mija from the list, even though she’s playing at the same time as Manila Killa. You never know what to expect from her live sets, and she’s not shy about it, with her curated stage being appropriately titled “Fk A Genre”. I’ve seen her play everything from heavy dubstep to minimal house, and it’s always fantastic.
Oshi
Run The Trap favorite Oshi is on a meteoric rise, and for good reason. He’s been releasing hit after hit, recently securing an official remix of Jack U’s “Mind”. The young phenom will be closing out the North Stage on Saturday as part of Moving Castle’s takeover, and it’s going to be an amazing end to an absolutely stacked day at UpNorth.
Dr. Fresch
Dr. Fresch has been tearing up the festival circuit, including an absolutely massive b2b with SNBRN at EDC Las Vegas. A master of the rising G-House genre, Dr. Fresch’s sets mix up bass, hip-hop, and house, and keep you moving the entire time. Save some of your dancing energy for the last night, because with Dr. Fresch and Ghastly closing out the Aurora Stage on Sunday night, you’re going to need it.
Be sure to find us at UpNorth this weekend, and check out the full lineup below!
