Three days of innovation-focused programming are capped by a two-day outdoor concert, headlined by Coachella darlings The Chainsmokers and CHVRCHES, with festival veteran DJ collection Thievery Corporation, celebrating their 20th anniversary. Metric, Ty Dolla $ign, Lettuce, Hudson Mohawke, Rubblebucket, Daya, Wild Child and a dozen other acts fill out the bill.
The innovation presented at Thrival will focus on three themes: Lost and Found, AuthentiCity, and The Ripple Effect — which will feature an interdisciplinary mix of speakers, demos, panel discussions, and workshops all directed at addressing pressing challenges and opportunities facing our modern society, and especially re-emerging cities like Pittsburgh.
Dancakes will make a feature presentation during the Ripple Effect (focused on small ideas that lead to big impacts) and will also be presenting live demos during both days of the outdoor music experience.
Only in its fourth year, Thrival looks to grow its platform while staying accessible for the general public. The day-time innovation programming is free to attend, the evening keynote talks are less than $20, and a concert two-day pass is under $60.
Altogether, Thrival thinks they have one of the most affordable, high quality festival experiences in the country, while offering the intellectual substance to separate them from the pack.
We see prices soaring into the hundreds of dollars just to get in the door in some places. And that’s general admission just for music. Festivals need to be more than a high price tag and big names on a poster. We mix the music element with programming that encourages intellectual curiosity, creative experimentation, thoughtful conversation, and fun to reflect the tremendous growth our city is experiencing, while tackling issues relevant to the national discourse.
The key part is that Thrival’s accessible. Many events are free and only a handful are ticketed. There’s something for everyone at Thrival,” says Law.
