The hype levels for Lollapalooza 2016 are off the charts. For the first time, the festival will take place over four days to celebrate 25 years of Lollapalooza. The lineup boasts huge names such as LCD Soundystem, Radiohead, Flume, Disclosure, Flosstradamus, Excision, Griz…and that’s only seven names!
Lollapalooza takes place right in the heart of Chicago in Grant Park – because of that the festival has a strict 10 P.M. sound curfew. But just because the festival ends, that doesn’t mean the dancing stops. Every year thousands of festival goers flock to some of Chicago’s hottest music venues for the highly regarded aftershows that ensure that people keep dancing until the wee hours of the morning. Just like the festival, the aftershows boast all kinds of genres. For me, the aftershows help alleviate some of these inevitable scheduling conflicts that a festival with SO many big names creates.
The MID will be absolutely bumping all weekend featuring a performance by Excision on Thursday and GRiZ on Friday. Jauz & Marshmello on Saturday and Yellowclaw & Boombox Cartel on Sunday. I’m exhausted just looking at the lineup. Other highlights include Big Gigantic at Concord Music Hall, Cashmere Cat at Primary and Bro Safari at Evil Olive.
But like I said, that’s just a few of the 55 aftershows that are available for the long weekend, so take a gander and see what catches your eye!
