Rick Rubin to Release Star Wars Compilation Album ft. FlyLo, Baauer, A-Trak, GTA, and Many More

When Star Force Awakens was released in theaters, DJ Snake made remix for an HP commercial and I made some comments about how in the future we are, and also about how product placement is a real doozy in modern society. But this is actually something very cool coming from the Star Wars camp, devoid of all the over-commercialized nonsense, and probably will be quite a production. We have heard a lot of remixes made from the lounge music and other sounds related to that far, far away galaxy, but no one has ever thought of using sample sounds like Vader breath or his deeply distorted voice, the bleeps and bloops of robots like R2D2, and the mighty roars of Chewbacca, mixed into music; at least no one has thought of it until now.

Mogul and mastermind of music Rick Rubin had this idea, and has made it into a reality. Star Wars Headspace, dropping digitally on 2.19 and 3.18 in physical formats, samples Star Wars samples from the films on a compilation of tracks from a nice variety of A list DJs/Producers. A good sampling of sound and of artists on this album, with tracks from Flying Lotus, Rustie, A-Trak, Röyksopp, Kaskade, Shlohmo, GTA, and more (tracklist below). Including a new Baauer track. I wonder how hard Harry is going to kill 2016. We may all be dead before the New Year comes again…especially with releases like this on the brink. Pre-order on iTunes here.

Pretty cool stuff from one of the coolest dudes in music. Responsible for two of the tracks and making a rare appearance as an actual artist on this album, there is nothing this guy can not do. Rick Rubin is the man.
