What better place to premiere a new song than on national television? Well that’s exactly what Kendrick Lamar did last night. The late night performance saw the debut of a brand new Kendrick Lamar tune that was referred to as ‘Untitled 2.’ As most of you remember, he did the same thing when he performed on The Colbert Report about a year ago.
This new Kendrick joint has a soulful backing beat performed live with a full band that slowly rises to a crescendo until about 3:45 where Kendrick unleashes what feels like a barrage of emotions that was being held in during the entirety of the song. It combines his masterful lyricism with his raw energy into an incredible show of talent.
A user by the name of “bakedamerican” on Reddit’s /r/hiphopheads board said it best with, “Kendrick is at the height of his game. I consider myself lucky to be able to listen to an artist like this.”
