Young Thug rarely opens up for American media, but the current rap-superstar got incredibly candid for the French show Mon Entourage (apparently connected with a production group, Mazava Prod) talking about everything from his upbringing and family to his upcoming work with Post Malone and his feelings about receiving support from Andre 3000. It really is fascinating to see this side of YT, don’t be surprised if you end up watching the whole thing after you get 3 minutes deep.
Young Thug had lot of information to offer up. Peep the most interesting quotes below and catch the full interview at the bottom.
Why he doesn’t do interviews:
“I don’t do a lot of interviews, because some people are not honest.”
The type of father he is:
“I think I’m too nice. I ain’t strict. I can’t be mean. I’m working on it, though. I whooped one of my kids the other day. Whooped ’em. First time. Every time I’m home, it’s always kids, kids, kids. I record most of all my music around my kids. They always around.”
What’s it like to have fans across the globe:
“It’s kind of hard to understand that a person that don’t even speak your language listens to you… Of course, it’s always a pleasure. I feel so good because I’m so far away from home and people know, word for word.”
What music he has coming up:
“I’m bringing out a mixtape with The Migos, I’m bringing out a mixtape with Fetty Wap, and I’m bringing out a mixtape with Post Malone. All of them are done, it’s probably just like four songs left on one of them.”
How he feels to have André 3000’s support:
“We from the same town but that’s crazy because he’s a legend, like a real legend.”
Why he try to stay humble:
“The struggle made me humble. I guess just going through so much, to the point where even good stuff, stuff that I’m supposed to rock out about, I still be kind of humble to. But I most definitely pay attention, too. I almost cried when Andre was like, ‘I’m a fan of Young Thug.’ I’m still humble but I definitely pay attention to it. I most definitely pay attention when Kanye West mentions me. I most definitely watch it every day. But I’m just a humble guy.”
What it’s like to work with Kanye or André:
“I would shoot to him and do it… If he wanna work, of course. If Andre wanna work I’m gonna fly to him, right away.”
