Have you ever listened to a short EP and it immediately make you wish that there were 10+ more tracks on it? That’s the feeling I got on my first listen through of Savoy’s brand new 4-track EP, 1000 Years out now on Monstercat Records.
The entire EP features crisp production, but makes sure each track is unique in its own way. The eclectic intro track, “Pump It Up” sets the tone for the rest of the release with its dark electro undertones before dropping off into an absolutely booming hip-hop inspired beat flooded with its own electronic…pizzazz. The following tracks give you a chance to catch your breathe, and lets Savoy show you to their spacier, more ethereal sound design that combines inspirations from artists such as Adventure Club, Minnesota and Porter Robinson. The highlight for me was their collaboration with Jurassic 5’s Chali 2na. “Love is Killing Me” combines sounds from all of Savoy’s discography that has made us grow to love them so with Chali 2na’s unforgettable voice and rhymes. It really is a fun EP to listen to, you won’t regret it.
They are slated to be on tour for all of January, and if you haven’t had a chance to catch Savoy live before, you absolutely have to make it a priority. Tour dates below.
