Willdabeast’s inaugural 11-track EP entitled “Stay The Course” is a beautiful piece of music and a serene journey through some of the best aspects of the electronic platform. Out on Michael Menert’s Super Best Records, he has that Super Best funk with elements of hip hop, dreamlike vocals, amazing live band recording, and truly just something for everyone. Willdabeast is an amazing trumpet player who got his start in the scene by becoming Menert’s trumpet player in his traveling band The Pretty Fantastics. Willdabeast endeavored to bring collaborative artists into the studio to record (and sometimes replace) live instruments and vocals, crafting a fun, personal journey through the album. Similarly, the album art, by graphic designer Mike Lunde is an attempt to encapsulate these personal experiences and questions surrounding the theme of duality. He combines natural photographs of mountain ranges and juxtaposed images from around the Pacific Northwest, where the group is based out of.
They were fortunate to have many friends join them from their hometown and from their travels including Matt van den Heuvel (who plays guitar on more than half of the album), Vokab Kompany (San-Diego based hip hop band) and locals Brittany Littke, Sinclair Hucke, Gary Washginton on vocals, Todd Templeton (drums), Matt Taggart (bass), and more. There is even a cameo from Glazier’s acclaimed father, Dr. Loss Glazier, a published author, tenured professor in new media and owner/operator of the largest poetry database in the world, on the song “Way Back”.
