After months of rebuilding his reputation as teeny bopper pop star and general all around fuckboi, Justin Bieber has made a stunning comeback as tbh one of the greatest pop sensations of 2015. The 21 year old Canadian’s highly anticipated fourth studio album Purpose finally dropped today and it is magical.
After coming out of no where with a Skrillex and Diplo collab that ended up becoming one of the hottest tracks of the summer, Bieber has taken over the pop, R&B and electronic music scenes in one fell swoop. The PR push alone for this campaign has been astounding. From the graffiti art splattered around the world detailing the albums tracklist to his recent call-in-and-listen “Hotline Bling” remix, Bieber’s rebrand has throttled him into a front running position for countless awards.
The album ranges from tropical house to deep electronic, trappy R&B, and full on candy crush pop and yet is probably the most representative piece of work put out by the young artist. After the instant success of “What Do You Mean“, “Sorry“, and “I’ll Show You”, and collaborations with artists like Halsey and Ed Sheeran, Purpose carried a heightened anticipation simply knowing artists like Nas and Travi$ Scott were still to be featured on the 19-track album. Aside from the four breath-taking singles, the album is lush with hits like “Company” and “Get Used To It”. The standout track on the album, “No Sense”, with Travi$ Scott proves just how versatile the young artist is.
