An ode to rolling up and lighting, “Smokers Unite,” is an anthemic track, calling together weed enthusiasts worldwide, and inviting them to celebrate in the name of Mary Jane. GTA are known as OG runners of the trap, so it is only appropriate they release a song Snoop Dogg would use to bump to in his hood.
Being authorities on proper trap running, we think it is hella appropriate that we bring you this premiere today; it is the official music video for this epic rap track. The video features footage from the duo’s journey to HARD DOTD last year, following them before and after a set that surely slaughtered the audience, killing them dead in the name of Halloween, running the trap, and of course in the righteous effort to unite smokers everywhere.
In the place where electronica meets rap to become trap music, in the Death to Genres fashion that makes up GTAs signature sound, and in the middle of it all where unity is commonplace practice, Paul Wall and Clyde Carson spit verses on this track, also making a special appearance in the music video. The two are featured backstage with GTA, doing silly shit with their friends at one of the hottest festivals of the year. Your close friends include Diplo, and silly shit includes getting fitted for grills with Paul Wall. This behind-the-scenes glimpse of gangster AF GTA in their element, carefree and laughing and throwing down the fire, makes us jealous. This music video, however funny or FOMO inducing it is to see Paul Wall kicking it backstage with your favorite DJs, is more about what happens onstage. GTA stays calling for the death of genres, bringing this philosophy to life in their mixtapes and their music. In this video, that life goes LIVE AF in the perfect mixture of electronic and hip hop sounds. Worlds completely collide and we love it. We tip our snapbacks, roll up and light, and hope that one day we can run a trap this tight.
