YouTube just announced a new service they call YouTube Red. For ten dollars a month, users will be able to watch all the YouTube videos they want without ads, save videos to phones or tablets to watch offline, and start a video on YouTube on your phone while moving across to a different app without stopping the playback of the video. Along with abolishing the 30-60 second ads you have to watch before watching your favorite YouTuber’s content – you will be supporting your favorite content creator, much like TwitchTv. YouTube Red subscribers will be granted access to watch YouTube exclusive series and movies.
Along with the aforementioned benefits, your $10 a month a subscription will grant you access to the soon coming YouTube Music app which will pair with Google Play Music –
YouTube Music is designed to make discovering, watching and listening to music easier than ever. Any song or artist you choose on YouTube Music will start you on a personal journey through one of the richest music catalogs; just sign in, tap a track you love, and see where your music takes you. And as a special bonus – YouTube Red works with Google Play Music, so subscribe to one and automatically get access to the other. -YouTube
It looks like YouTube is willing to take a gamble on users wanting to support their favorite content creators. Do you think the app will have any chance against services such as Netflix, Hulu, or Spotify?
The app is set to launch October 28th in The United States with the promise of coming to more countries soon. Users are encouraged to sign up for a free trial of the app, launching next week.
