This just in from Consequence of Sound, where it apparently has been confirmed by multiple sources: LCD Soundsystem is allegedly reuniting to play several high-profile and UK festivals in 2016. According to CoS, official announcements are to come soon that the band will be headlining at least three festies.
The electronic rock group was on the forefront of the current EDM movement, fronted by James Murphy, also head of DFA Records, their label. LCD Soundsystem disbanded in 2011, after an April 2nd farewell concert at Madison Square Garden and the production of a documentary called Shut Up and Play the Hits.
This news is just hitting the web, and fans are already going nuts. While this is only speculative information, DFA retweeted the CoS tweet saying the band was getting back together. This could represent a return to the indie feels that so many of us loved about electronic music BEDM (Before EDM). I am already jumping for joy and screaming about Daft Punk playing at my house all over the internet, and in real life.
Stay Tuned for more information.
UPDATE: Unfortunately, the earlier reported information was later confirmed false by James Murphy’s label manager, who changed his twitter name to ““LCD Soundsystem are not reuniting next year, you fucking morons.”
Here is their final concert in its entirety:
