This morning interesting news surfaced that Instagram had banned the use of “EDM” as a hashtag on their social media app. Although their reasoning for blocking the word is vague, the popular photo sharing platform stated that they:
“will block certain hashtags when they are consistently being used to share images and videos that violate our Community Guidelines.”
Whether or not there was a specific event that sparked this is unclear, but it seems like the hashtag was frequently connected to drugs, nudity, and other inappropriate content. Did instagram go too far banning the use of “#EDM”? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

I'd like to think this is to try and stop people from taking pictures and showing everyone on social media just how much fun they're having at all the shows they go to instead of actually experiencing them.
Probably not and I doubt this will do anything to reduce it

It's more or less there to fucking remove those basic fucks from festivals who only go so they can use the EDM hash tag.

Kinda stupid if you ask me…its just a hashtag….and NOT EVERYONE uses it…i wouldnt be surprised if social media starts censoring and controlling what we can and cant hashtag
