Too Future Guest Mix 035: Chet Porter

We first found Chet Porter last November when he released an incredible remix of Ryan Hemsworth. Since then he has continued to gather fans by releasing amazing remixes of Porter Robinson, Zedd, Galantis as well as a release on Moving Castle Vol. 3. This made him a frequent flyer on our Too Future. Thursday compilations, so we decided it was time for him to deliver a Too Future. guest mix. To accompany the mix we had a little chat with Chet so you can get to know this up and coming producer more. Check it out along with the mix and the tracklist below.

TT: Good morning Mr. Porter! How are you today?

CP: Good! About to make coffee and a breakfast sandwich and watch game of thrones, p excited.

TF: ohh nice, whats the ‘chet porter’ breakfast sandwich special?

CP: Omg, Can i supply a pic for this? Me and my gf have started to raise the breakfast bar lately, we created the “hawaiian open-faced breakfast sanj”. It’s a toasted sesame seed bagel, cream cheese, grilled pineapple, bacon, parmesian, and pepper

TF: Oh wow that looks really good. I need to try that sometime. Ik onto the music stuff before I let that get to my head and ditch this interview for food. This mix is pretty sweet, a loooot of unreleased tunes in it.

CP: Woo, yeah! I think there’s 4 new/unreleased tracks hehe. Hopefully I’ll be able to put them out sometime soon, but first I have to drop this remix..

TF: That’s awesome, were you nervous at all about putting all that music in one mix? What remix are fans hearing next?

CP: Definitely nervous, I feel like I’m giving away a lot of my secrets and I fear that by the time I can properly release them they won’t feel “new” anymore, but it could also get people hyped to have them in their iTunes or whatever. I feel like I shouldn’t have done it hahaha but I couldn’t help myself. I really want people to hear these and I hate being slow with releases, so I tried to give them a little more than just a mix full of songs they’ve already heard. It’s a remix of Darude – Sandstorm.

TF: I guess when an artist puts so much time into their songs, it’s difficult to send them out into the world haha. I wouldn’t even be surprised if you remixed sandstorm. Got any plans to start playing shows in the future?

CP: Yasss, I have a show in Toronto with some of my Moving Castle friends to end off their virtual summer tour. Me, Yung Wall Street, Hunt for the Breeze, Robokid, and AO Beats hehe.

TF: That’s awesome! How has it been to have the support of Moving Castle? I know the concept of “collectives” have been getting some hate lately.

CP: Yeah I’ve seen that and I understand it too. I feel like there are a lot of “collectives” that come from mostly a business standpoint, but with Moving Castle it’s the other way around. We’re all such good friends hahaha, I talk to them literally every day. It’s great being so tight with people doing the same things you’re doing. e’re always giving each other WIPs for advice and opinions, art, etc. We do a lot of our work individually too, but we’ll come together for tours, festivals, compilations, whatever. To me it just feels like a group chat with a name attached to it that the internet knows

TF: Fair enough. I guess internally it must just feel like hanging out with your friends on the Internet. So in that I’m assuming that there’s a lot of “check my sc fam” between the members?

CP: Hahahaha yeah a little, but not in a preachy way. Usually stuff only gets sent if we’re looking for opinions. We’re all genuinely interested in hearing each other’s new stuff anyways, so it’s always exciting when someone sends a private link

TF: Very cool. Is there anything else you’re really excited for over the next couple of months?

CP: Game of thrones finale, Ryn Weaver’s album (benny blanco and michael angelakos can do no wrong), I heard rumors of a new Childish Gambino album? Although I doubt that will be in the next couple months. and I’m suuuper excited to put more music out hehe.
