This is one of those tracks that sells itself because of the artists behind it. Even mores when those artist are switching it up with a new friend in the mix. Designer Drugs bleeps any in tune musical ear. For this track though, and an upcoming EP entitled HYPERCORE, they’ve teamed up with Philadelphia’s own Fredric Fresh as his moniker states. He really is fresh AF, with Baltimore club roots that run deep, and a Philly flavor that he’s been slyly showing off for years. He’s gone by some other names, but homies like Freddie stay elusive. What’s in a name, anyway?
A lot in the name Designer Drugs, even though these guys are super chill, and stay enough under the radar that their sound remains all their own. It is a huge one, so energetic and upbeat. And an electrifying one at that. Their music is so all over the place in the best ways possible.
And now this artistic collaboration has culminated in this track entitled, “Future Body.” In name alone, this is right up the RTT alley. If that wasn’t enough, check out the synth riffs that sound like orchestral strings, but that the same time want to dance with a fury. In fact, you are dancing if you’re listening to this track. You might not even know it yet. The futuristic bubble noises and vocal track instructing, “play that future body,” have me saying so much yes.
This HYPERCORE EP is going to also be a big win. And maybe there are whispers of a possible rework of one the greatest Designer Drugs tunes ever, the one they made with Alvin Risk. It all sounds pretty dope, including this track.
