With almost half the United States supporting some form of legal marijuana and the 2016 election on the horizon, many auxiliary businesses have begun sprouting up in an attempt to cash in on the ~$2B ‘legal’ cannabis industry. The latest group trying to make an extra buck off potheads is The Travel Joint, offering marijuana-centric travel packages “to help create the perfect 420-friendly vacation.” The company has just unveiled an EDC Las Vegas package that includes everything from tickets to hotel booking to transportation to and from dispensaries… they can even arrange to have a doctor meet you in your hotel room to give you a valid medical marijuana evaluation. The announcement is a stark reminder of how the attitudes in Vegas have changed (remember Paris Hilton was pulled over on the strip a few years back because cops suspected she might be in possession of marijuana) though even with the recent legalization of MMJ and the abundance of delivery services already available, it’s not something I would want to broadcast conspicuously… ESPECIALLY if you’re from “out of town” (trust me, I’ve spend more than a few days down at the Vegas courthouse).
I’m sure this will be a hot sell for people trying not to worry about the logistics of getting lifted in Sin City… but I think I’d be less concerned about a Vegas hotel that’s okay with smoking and more concerned about a Vegas hotel that won’t call the cops when I’m on ****ing drugs laying on the floor of the lobby yelling at people in my sloppiest dutch accent.
Shout out to Rusko for that one time… heh, Vegas.
