Shoeboxx Recordings co-founder and Denver-based producer Real Cosby has been burning the midnight oil to produce a series of driven-yet-gentle tracks that encapsulate a side of the future bass/ rnb scene that hasn’t been explored quite so deeply. Apollo (ft. Newman) exemplifies the strange appeal of RC’s aesthetic– not unlike Sophie, he distills music down to a minimal form and then uses that to spotlight his rich selection of tones and timbres. Some may be turned off at first by the way this track doesn’t adhere to the formulaic production style we’ve become accustomed to… but give it a minute and see if you don’t find yourself hitting that “download” button by the end of the day.
