You may recognize WebsterX from his previous track Doomsday, or it’s stunning music video, which were both featured on the site. Over the course of the past couple weeks, WebsterX has been planting the hashtag #WHOisKidX all over the streets of Milwaukee hinting that new music is approaching.
The hashtag is all part of a grassroots marketing campaign crafted by WebsterX and his creative-output team, New Age Narcissim. In addition to the #WHOIsKidX hashtag and KidX street art popping up all over the MKE streets, the team also launched a website, whoiskidx.com, which features the artwork for the forthcoming project and a countdown leading up to it’s Monday (3:00 PM EST) release.
The upcoming KidX EP is set to clock in just north of 10 minutes in listening time spanning across three tracks, all of which were inspired by Radiohead’s Kid A. The EP, which was produced by Q the Sun, will be a continuous play, meaning all three tracks will seamlessly flow from on to the next, creating the illusion of a complete 10-minute creative journey.
In addition to Radiohead’s Kid A, the EP was also inspired by a recent trip to Brooklyn, and more specifically it’s Bushwick.
[Me and my friends] were walking around Brooklyn’s Bushwick area headed to my friend Simen’s studio and saw this Shamir promo painting which was just so amazing to me. Going to things such as SXSW, you usually see 8 x 11 flyers to concrete walls etc., but seeing a damn near mural painted on the wall as promo? That was impressive.
If you happen to live in the MKE, WebsterX is throwing a release party on Saturday, which he is calling the “KidX Listening Disco.” Visit the KidX website for more info.
