2014 has been a hot year for music collectives; we’ve witnessed the rise of incredible groups like Moving Castle, Die Hie, Alaya, Flo-fi, Hebinomichi and like a good party, people just keep showing up (with booze) ready and willing to kick things up a notch. Today, we are introduced to the latest collective you’ll want to watch, Shoeboxx Recordings. They have a compilation coming out on the 25th of this month but we’ve got a sneak peek at Easy Girl‘s contribution, Hey Girl, and after listening you’ll see I why I’m so stoked on what they have to put out.
Hey Girl definitely draws some inspiration from producers like Lido and some of our favorites from Australia with tight, pitched vocal-work, rich, pulsing synths and natural sounding percussion with dramatic drum fills but make no mistake, he’s on his own tip and he’s based right here in Los Angeles. Could this be the sign that the future has arrived on the west coast? Only time will tell.
