It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from either Alex Young or Jonah Baseball, so to say their version of GoldLink‘s “When I Die” was a pleasant surprise is an understatement. Jonah Baseball has been on our radar since he dropped “Louisville Slugger” which we included in one of our earlier “Too Future” installments. Alex has been around a little longer, first catching our eye with his remix of Yeezy’s “Black Skinhead” with Royal.
The best word I can think of to describe this track would be ‘gentle’. Don’t let the term fool you, I mean it in the best possible way! The melodic collaboration is a combination of all the best elements of future bass, jazz, and hip hop in one. The placement of the vocals is clever, complimenting the music rather than being the focus, really allowing the talent of these two young producers to dominate the track. Can’t wait to hear more from both of them, listen to the track below.
