It’s been five years since Asher Roth released his first studio album, Asleep in the Bread Aisle, which included his hit song “I Love College,” but Asher is back with his second studio album, RetroHash. Asher definitely seems to have found his sound and vibe with this album, as it has a consistent feel throughout. The album includes features from Curren$y, Vic Mensa, Chuck Inglish, and more while production on the album was handled entirely by Blended Babies. In an interview with XXL, Roth explained the inspiration behind RetroHash:
It’s a record about freedom. About trusting yourself and being yourself, and I think that’s pretty awesome. I want to continue to challenge myself as a songwriter, as well as a person, to just get better. I don’t want to settle and be content, I just want to make music with my friends, and I think this record really embodies that, and it’s one of many new offerings for the new year. There’s a lot of other stuff that I have, and RetroHash is just the kick off of this newfound freedom.
This album has endless vibes and I can’t stop listening so be sure to stream and purchase the album below.
