Captain Murphy - Between Villains ft. Viktor Vaughn, Earl Sweatshirt and Thundercat

Wow, in some kind of attack of the alter-egos: Los Angeles edition, Captain Murphy (aka Flying Lotus) and Viktor Vaughn (aka DOOM) have teamed up with Earl Sweatshirt and Thundercat to deliver a fresh new single entitled “Between Villains.” The track has a real “Disneyland haunted mansion” creepy feel to it with dusty piano samples and some of the most unique flows that can be found in music today. The whole experience is somewhat unsettling in a way that has me playing the track over and over… a kind of uncomfortable, exciting strangeness that so frequently accompanies the unfamiliar… and exactly what one should expect from some of the best LA’s underground has to offer.

Also because nobody else is going to say it…. Come on Earl and Thundercat, pick some alter-ego names already, ****. You can’t show up to the alter-ego party as yourself. Party fouls on each of you.
