Tiesto, argaably the biggest name in all of dance music, and his squad of European hit making superstars on his Musical Freedom imprint, are known for flipping the world’s greatest clubs upside down, and tearing up the most larger than life festival stages all over the world. Tiesto has been a huge player in bringing dance music to the global limelight in the last few years, and it seems as though everything he does, says, or touches seems to turn to gold. Well today, the mighty Tiesto is tipping his cap to the American dance music current craze, releasing a Trap Remix EP on Musical Freedom.
The EP released on Beatport today is a four track collection of trap reworks of some of the biggest electro-house and progressive house tunes out there. Luminox’s dirty, trapped out remix of house-set-staple Epic originally by Sandro Salva and Quintino is on the EP along with three other big tunes by the likes of GTA, Basscamp and Eythr; remixes of Dimitri Vegas, Like Mike, R3hab and Tiesto himself are all found on this seemingly out of left field release. Tiesto and his cohorts aren’t necessarily known for their affinity for trap music, but the endorsement by Tiesto to a genre such as our very own, is an honor. When asked about the uncharacteristic release, Tiesto had this to say:
I named my record label @musicalfreedom because I like to release all kinds of different styles of music from all kind of artists!

Tiesto has been typecast as a house / trance producer, cranking out club tracks and pop-house remixes, but it appears his taste in music, and the mission of his label is much more dynamic. We here at RTT are really excited about a release like this. It is a great transition for trap to gain momentum globally, and moreover, I wouldn’t be surprised to see Tiesto and other huge name main stage artists start dipping their toes into the production of some 808 inspired tunes in the very near future.
So don’t be surprised if we @musicalfreedom release a #Trap or #Hardstyle track!

Tiesto is breaking out of the routine with a trap release, so who knows what might be coming next? For now, enjoy these bangers, as they pave the way for what could be a huge wave of trap and hip-hop influenced electronic sounds from artists not typically associated with the genre coming in the very near future.
