ToneDen has just made the big jump to mobile and once again, the company is doing a wonderful job at identifying needs within the musical community and fulfilling them. When Facebook banned like-gating, ToneDen stepped in with an easy way for artists to make that connection with free music. Now, as the SoundCloud stream becomes inundated with reposts and potential ads, Toneden is offering a new way to discover and consume new music from your favorite artists via their new mobile app:
When you combine the number of new music projects that are being created daily with the fact that SoundCloud has over 12 hours of audio being uploaded to it every minute, choosing what to listen to next is getting harder to do. ToneDen’s free music sharing app lets your favorite artists and friends send you new music – letting them do the heavy-lifting of curation for you.
ToneDen’s mobile experience centers around the “inbox” where you’ll receive new music right when it comes out from artists you follow or friends whose taste you trust. Each track you receive is also coupled with a personal message from the poster, giving you the story behind why the track is being shared. You can then choose to save the track for later listening, or share it with your close friends and followers in a way that’s similar to sharing a Snap on Snapchat. You can also see which artists and tracks are most popular by visiting the real-time and constantly updating “trending” stream that acts as a filtered feed of new music.
The service has some clear perks for artists too as every track-play on the service goes towards an artist’s play-count on SoundCloud. Artists currently have two locations for posting their music on the service: the mobile app or the web app (which means artists can still participate in ToneDen regardless of whether or not they have an iPhone).
